Google Cracks Down on the Lazy SEO Hacks
In 2005, Matt Cutts – Google’s resident search engine optimization evangelist advised small business owners ‘not to hire an assclown SEO that makes doorway pages with sneaky redirects’ and ten years later Google is bringing the hammer down. Brian White, from Google’s Webspam team added “We have a long-standing view that doorway pages that are created solely for search engine can harm the quality of the user’s search experience.”
Doorway pages are created to rank high for certain keyword queries and redirect visitors to another page, or intermediate page that Google defines as ‘not as useful as the final destination’.
This announcement is somewhat of a departure for Google, who does not always announce changes to their search engine algorithm claiming that their audience had grown tired of their frequency.
